Where to Go for Care
Consider all of your options when choosing where to go for medical care. You might be surprised to learn that this is often not the ER. Be prepared by knowing the best place to go depending on your medical condition.

Medical professionals can answer your health questions and help set up appointments with your provider.
Call for:
- Help caring for a sick child
- Help knowing if you should see your primary care provider
- Answers to questions about your health
Your PCP is your main provider. Call their office to schedule a visit if you don’t need immediate medical care. Use our Find a Provider tool to locate a doctor in Meridian's network or call Member Services at 866-606-3700 (TTY: 711).
Make an appointment for:
- Vaccinations
- An annual wellness exam
- Help with colds, the flu, and fevers
- General advice about your overall health
- Care for ongoing health issues like asthma or diabetes
Your behavioral health care provider is your primary provider for mental health support and treatment. Call their office to schedule a visit if you don’t need immediate behavioral health care. Use our Find a Provider tool to locate a provider in Meridian's network or call Member Services at 866-606-3700 (TTY: 711).
See your behavioral health care provider if you:
- Have changes in mood that last more than 3 days
- Have changes in sleep pattern
- Need medication refills
- If you have thoughts of harming yourself or others, call 911 or go to the Emergency Room (ER). You can also call the Behavioral Health Crisis Line at 800-345-9049.
Telehealth, or virtual health, offers convenient, 24-hour access to in-network Meridian healthcare providers for non-emergency health issues. You can get medical advice, a diagnosis or a prescription by phone or video. Use Telehealth anytime or schedule an appointment wherever and whenever you need it. Before you can use Telehealth, you need to have an account. Set up and activate your account from our Meridian Telehealth webpage.
Get help with illnesses such as:
- Sinus problems and allergies
- Upper respiratory infections
- Colds, the flu, and fevers
- Rash and skin problems
Go to a nearby urgent care center if your illness or injury isn’t life-threatening and your PCP’s office is closed. Use our Find a Provider tool to find an urgent care center in Meridian's network or call Member Services at 866-606-3700 (TTY: 711).
Urgent care centers see patients for:
- Flu symptoms with vomiting
- Ear infections
- High fevers
- Sprains
- Minor cuts or burns
Consider all of your options before going to the ER. Visit the ER if you’re experiencing a LIFE-THREATENING injury or illness.
Go here for:
- Broken bones
- Bleeding that won’t stop
- Labor pains or other bleeding (if pregnant)
- Shock symptoms (sweat, thirst, dizziness, pale skin)
- Drug overdose
- Ingested poison
- Bad burns
- Convulsions or seizures
- Trouble breathing
- The sudden inability to see, move, or speak
- Chest pains or heart attack symptoms
- Gun or knife wounds
